"Vanity" explores the moment where admiration for oneself transforms into obsession when the mirror no longer reflects reality but a curated illusion. This mixed media piece dives into the psychological tension between confidence and ego, where the desire to be seen becomes a dependency on being validated.

The painting examines how vanity, when unchecked, slides into self-absorption—a state where the self is constantly performed, not lived.

It portrays the conflict between self-expression and self-construction, questioning how much of identity is authentic versus projected.

Glossy textures and reflective surfaces mirror the seductive shimmer of idealized self-image.Faces and forms may be fragmented or multiplied, emphasizing distortion and internal fixation.

Collage elements beauty products, fashion fragments, digital motifs represent external tools that feed into the cycle of appearance over essence.

“Vanity” does not vilify beauty or self-admiration; instead, it interrogates what happens when we begin to love the image more than the being. The work poses a question: when we curate every reflection, what do we leave unseen?

This piece sits at the crossroads of identity and illusion, offering viewers a chance to consider how self-perception can both empower and entrap. It invites contemplation, discomfort, and ultimately, a deeper look at what lies beyond the surface.
